OSHA revised its Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200) in 2024 to align with GHS Revision 7. Under OSHA's extended schedule, employers must update workplace labels, the written HazCom program, and employee training for newly identified hazards of chemical substances by November 20, 2026, and for mixtures by May 19, 2028. This kit gives you editable templates to get that done.

What's included

  • Written Hazard Communication Program (Word), updated for the 2024 rule. Covers scope, responsibilities, chemical inventory, SDS management, shipped and workplace labels, small-container labels, training, non-routine tasks, unlabeled pipes, contractors and multi-employer sites, trade secrets, and program review. Every section cites the matching paragraph of 1910.1200. Includes 5 appendices.
  • “What Changed in HazCom 2024” summary and gap checklist (Word, 2 pages): new hazard classes, label and SDS changes, trade-secret ranges, and every compliance date.
  • Compliance action checklist and timeline (Word): a 6-phase plan with owner and target-date columns.
  • Chemical Inventory and SDS Log (Excel): Y/N drop-downs, gaps flagged in red automatically, an auto-summary dashboard with deadline countdowns, and a hazard-class reference tab.
  • Employee training packet (Word): training outline mapped to 1910.1200(h), a sign-in sheet, and a 10-question quiz with answer key and citations.
  • Secondary container labels (Word): 3 sizes, a GHS pictogram reference chart, and a pictogram cut-out sheet.
  • Start-here guide with quick-start steps and a plain-English disclaimer.

Why it helps

  • Fully editable Word and Excel files, not locked PDFs
  • Yellow-highlighted fill-in fields, so you can find every blank with Ctrl+F
  • Covers 2024 changes many older templates miss: aerosols and chemicals under pressure, desensitized explosives, small-container labels, SDS sections 2, 3, 9, and 11, and prescribed trade-secret concentration ranges

Who it's for

Shop owners, office and facility managers, HR and safety coordinators, contractors, maintenance and fabrication shops, auto and body shops, cleaning companies, manufacturers, and anyone responsible for HazCom at a small or mid-size business.

Good to know

  • If you are in a State Plan state (for example CA, WA, OR, or MI), check your state's HazCom rule as well.
  • Files open in Microsoft Word and Excel; they also work in Google Docs, Google Sheets, and LibreOffice (some formatting may shift slightly).
  • Templates must be customized for your workplace. Your employer remains responsible for compliance.
  • Not legal advice. Not approved or endorsed by OSHA. Verify against current 29 CFR.
